This is mun drivel, pay no mind.
Feb. 16th, 2011 10:22 pmSo, Ramona’s portrayal in the film version of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World leaves a lot of things about her unanswered--as it was supposed to. She’s meant to be a mysterious dream girl to Scott. This is all well and good in the film, but leaves me some questions in actually playing her. So, here is a little list of head-canon bits and pieces, things I’ve gathered from interviews with Mary Elizabeth Winstead, the film producers, and probably even a few teeny things from the comic. More to be added as it pops into my head and Ramona develops as a character.
1) Her full name is Ramona Victoria Flowers.
2) She is 24 years old, and was born on January 19th of 1986.
3) She was raised in upstate New York, until her teenage years, when her mom moved to the city.
4) She was not an only child. Her brother was born four years after her. His name was Daniel Robert Flowers. They called him Danny.
5) Since her brother wanted Ramona’s name to match his, he called her Rammy. Ramona doesn’t allow anyone else to call her by that nickname.
6) Danny got away from Ramona’s parents one day when they were out shopping. He ran out in front of a car. Ramona saw the whole thing happen and was more than a little traumatized by it. She was told later that she picked up Danny’s sneaker from the sidewalk and refused to let anyone take it from her for days.
7) She still wears the shoestring from Danny’s shoe around her neck.
8) Her parents divorced two years after Danny died. Her dad stayed upstate, her mom moved to the city. The custody battle was bitter and ugly and Ramona felt like a chew toy being yanked between two really pissed off bull dogs.
9) She wasn’t a very nice kid in high school, which she’d admit to, but she also wasn’t a bully. She just...had issues.
10) Out of all her relationships, she thinks Todd was her biggest lapse in judgment.
11) She doesn’t talk about herself except in tiny slivers of information here and there. She’s incredibly private, and as such, she deeply respects other people’s privacy.
12) The only guy she ever feels like she might’ve loved was Gideon, and she admits that it wasn’t the right kind of love, and was unhealthy.
13) Intimacy for her is not sex. Sex is…easy. Intimacy is opening up to someone. And, by that definition, she doesn’t get intimate with people, or very very rarely does.
14) She freely admits that most of her relationships, and what became of her exes afterward, is mostly her fault. She was really careless with a lot of people, and in a way, she feels like she deserves to have the League breathing down her neck.
15) She also fears that she can’t stop herself from repeating those mistakes, and that she’s doomed to ruin everyone she dates.
16) She was raised Catholic and attended a parochial school. She blames her aversion to wearing pants on the fact that she always had to wear skirts to school, and therefore still does most days.
